Police — Seva — Sangathan

Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand

Hamant Kumar Bahukhandi spent a lifetime serving the nation in the police department — with an honesty that earned him the President's Police Medal for Meritorious Service.

After retirement, the pull of his matribhumi — Yamkeshwar — brought him home. In 2015 he founded the Bharosa Foundation, a volunteer-driven movement to bridge the disparity in society through education, healthcare, livelihood and sports.

In 2021, with around 400 people and 30 public representatives of the Yamkeshwar area beside him, he took membership of the Bharatiya Janata Party — and went on to serve as a member of the BJP Uttarakhand Pradesh Karya Samiti.

I served the nation all my life — in the police department I performed my duty with honesty, and was honoured with a medal by the President. But the passion to serve my motherland Yamkeshwar, and all of Uttarakhand, has been with me since childhood.
